Civic involvement is already strongly practiced in many parts of society, but it can still be developed – especially as a permanent feature of corporate cultures. As a former financial and investment advisor, I would like to personally promote this. After almost ten years of work for the Foundation, I can say with full conviction: “Altruism is the best kind of egoism”.
Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.
Wasn’t that perfect timing? Our “market place” on 18.9. fell exactly into the nationwide “Week of Civic Involvement” – and was now included in the official “review” of the action week.
On 18 September 2019, around 80 people from politics, business and the community from the Rheinisch Bergischer district took part in the first “Marketplace of Good Business” at Schloss Eulenbroich in Rösrath.
Six days to go until our big marketplace premiere in Bergischen. Electrified, excited – and very much looking forward to it! #rheinbergengagiert
Offering opportunities for pro bono work helps commercial law firms sharpen their legal skills by providing ways for lawyers to engage with their wider communities. At some firms, consistent participation in volunteering can be a significant, though not decisive, factor in deciding who wins a promotion.
