Volunteers for a small orphanage project in Argentina
Around 40 children and teenagers have found a new home in two small houses outside the city of Buenos Aires. The orphanages allow the children to learn to love and give them the attention their own families cannot. Each home houses has around 15 children and two people taking care of them at a time. They are responsible for the cleaning and taking care of the children. Help in many different areas is always needed. To create strong bonds with the children, gain their trust in order to make them feel better about themselves. Cultural exchange facilitates this task. For the minimum time of 4 weeks, we are looking for Volunteers for a small orphanage project.

TASKS
- Helping organize toys
- Helping prepare meals

- Helping wash up, clearing the dining room and kitchen
- If the volunteer is fluent in Spanish, they can help, older kids with their homework, Picking up kids from school or kindergarten, or take younger kids to the park
- If the volunteer have basic Spanish, they can play with and look after toddlers

Key Information
The kids call the carers “tias” or “tios” (aunts or uncles). This helps create a warm family atmosphere for the children.
It’s important to remember that in Argentina we do not say “orphanage”, we say “home” (hogar) because for the children a “home” is where they all live together as a family, while an orphanage is where they want to move out of”.
Volunteers should not give the children any gadgets like phones, cameras etc.,
Most importantly, volunteers should use their initiative and not be afraid of speaking Spanish even if they think it’s not correct, that’s the only way to learn!

Accommodation on arrival: ACCOMMODATION FOR VOLUNTEERS
Located in the heart of Buenos Aires, 4 blocks from the famous Plaza de Congreso.
Transportation located 20 meters from Line A subway, which will take you all the way to Plaza de Mayo.
Comfortable rooms, single or shared. Full-equipped kitchen and living room, Internet (including computers and WiFi).
Facilities: breakfast room, computers, luggage storage, tourist information.

The project is only closed during christmas (24 and 25 december) and New Year (31 December; 1 of January).

We organize social activities with volunteers and projects every month, i.e.: visits to museums, football matches, pick nicks, open debates, etc.

Guidance: There is one coordinator at the project and a general coordinator for all volunteers. However, we expect the volunteer to have a proactive and determined attitude of the volunteer is extremely important.
It is always very helpful when volunteers find their own way to help in the communities, so that coordinators instead of “training them” can use that time to accomplish pending tasks they might have.

First Contact

Agreement
After an extensive consultation and presentation of the first suitable projects, we will conclude a written agreement. In order to have planning security for all stakeholders.
Presentation of Volunteer Profile to Project Partner
Your application documents will be presented to the project partner.
Successful Placement
If the project partner decides for you, he documents this on the so-called Confirmation of Assignment (COA).
This is an indication for us that the pure mediation process is completed here and we can start with the preparation.
Preparation
You will be prepared individually according to your previous knowledge.
Project Work
Reporting
At regular intervals, we as well as the project partners expect a short documentation of your project results and progress.
Evaluation
At the end of the project a feedback round takes place and the project work will be evaluated together with all participants.
Qualified Letter of Reference
After successful implementation of the project, you will receive a qualified letter of reference.
