Overath (rie). “We want to make connections and raise our profile,” says Dagmar Frebert of Café Grenzenlos in Bergisch Gladbach when asked why she is attending the “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” event for the first time, alongside Andrea Kowalski-Brüwer from the Inklusion and CBEF organizations in Bergisch Gladbach. This is already the fourth time Ali Misini from die Platte e.V. in Bergisch Gladbach has participated in this event.

Volunteer organizations and companies have gathered at the Kulturbahnhof to exchange valuable knowledge as a commodity. Doris Richter from the Rembold Foundation, which has been the main sponsor of this event for years: “No money changes hands at this event.” During the so-called ‘speed dating’ session, which lasts over an hour, working time and manpower, as well as expertise—such as support with IT issues—are arranged. Dr. Rembold awards the best collaborations with a cash prize of 200 euros each.”

Christian Gollmer, district director of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband, and Tanja Siebert, executive director of AMAIDI International, are pleased that the event resulted in commitments totaling 23,600 euros and 125 volunteer hours. Eleven nonprofit organizations and six companies participated in the event. According to patron and District Administrator Arne von Bötticher, establishing strong networks and solidarity are important priorities.

Following the event, which took place in Odenthal in 2025, the Dr. Rembold Foundation awarded grants of 200 euros each to: the YMCA in cooperation with “Tanzen mit Friede” (Hoffmann), the Villa Löwenzahn daycare center in cooperation with Katha Arndt (resilience trainer), and the parents’ initiative for children with heart conditions together with seamstress Maria Theresia Wolff of phantasiali Stoffe.

At the “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” event held at the Overath Kulturbahnhof, clubs and businesses once again successfully connected with one another. For the fifth time, the event on Thursday evening, May 7, 2026, provided an ideal platform for club members and representatives of the local business community in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district. Interesting new partnership agreements with a total value of more than 23,600 euros and 125 volunteer hours were secured.

Eleven nonprofit organizations and six companies from Rhein-Berg got to know each other during a one-hour speed-dating session and agreed to collaborate. Participation in the Marketplace is lower this year than in previous years. “We received feedback from the organizations and companies that they would have liked to participate. However, due to the tense and uncertain economic situation, they are being cautious and are preoccupied with other issues,” explains Tanja Siebert, organizer of the “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte.” Together with Christian Gollmer, district group director of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband, the managing director of AMAIDI International in Overath once again organized the marketplace.

The goal of this annual event is to bring businesses and nonprofit organizations together and foster collaborations on an equal footing. The “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” is not about money. Partners support one another using four forms of exchange: expertise (pro bono), labor and time, networks and contacts, and labor and material resources.

Several new partnerships were formed at the event held at the Kulturbahnhof. “This is a very encouraging outcome. We would like to thank everyone who participated,” said Christian Gollmer. “We stand for strong networks and solidarity. That is also the core idea behind the ‘Gute Geschäfte’ Marketplace,” emphasized District Administrator Arne von Boetticher, who serves as the event’s patron.

The fifth marketplace was also supported by the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Foundation for the Promotion of Civic Engagement as the main sponsor, as well as by the Kreissparkasse Köln.

Awards for the Best Community Engagement Projects

Founder Jürgen Rembold praised the participants’ dedication and thanked them for their excellent ideas for new partnerships. Through his foundation, Rembold recognizes the three best partnerships from the previous year. These were established in 2025 at the “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” in Odenthal-Altenberg. The CVJM Bergisch Gladbach, the parents’ association of the Villa Löwenzahn daycare center in Rösrath, and the parents’ initiative for children with heart conditions in Cologne each received a grant of 200 euros. Members of the CVJM participated in a motivational workshop led by Frederike Hofmann, founder of the company “Tanzen mit Friede.” Katha Arndt, a coach and trainer, conducted a resilience training session for the entire team at the Villa Löwenzahn daycare center. Tailor Maria-Theresia Wolff, owner of phantasiali stoffe, sewed special wrap shirts for children who have to stay in the hospital together with members of the parents’ initiative for children with heart conditions.

After the gong sounded, nonprofit organizations and companies engaged in lively discussions, gathered exciting new ideas, and ultimately not only signed formal cooperation agreements but also networked with one another over a delicious buffet.

The “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” event will take place for the first time on July 2 in Wiehl, in the Oberbergischer Kreis district. The event is also going international: a delegation from Uganda, including AMAIDI directors Mamerito Ssenfuma and Sula Kakande, attended the event in Overath. “AMAIDI plans to host a Marketplace in Uganda next year,” Tanja Siebert announced the new initiative.

All partnership agreements reached during the “Marketplace” event were documented in writing on the evening of the event. The organizing team will oversee their implementation. The best partnerships will be recognized at the next Marketplace, which is scheduled to take place in early summer 2027.

Ablauf der Veranstaltung

Der „Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte“ bringt Unternehmen und gemeinnützige Organisationen aus dem Rheinisch-Bergischen Kreis zusammen und ermöglicht das Anbahnen von Kooperationen auf Augenhöhe. Per „Speeddating“ tauschen sich die Gesprächspartner eine Stunde lang aus und wägen eine mögliche Partnerschaft ab. Bezahlt wird dabei nicht mit Geld, sondern mittels vier möglicher Tauschwährungen: Know-How, Arbeitskraft und-zeit, Netzwerke sowie Sach- und Arbeitsmittel. Die Teilnahme ist für alle Beteiligten kostenfrei. Mehr hierzu erfahren Sie im Flyer oder unter die Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte Methode.

Am Veranstaltungstag treffen die teilnehmenden Unternehmen und Gemeinnützigen erstmals aufeinander. Ein Gongschlag signalisiert den Beginn der einstündigen Verhandlungsphase, während der sich die Teilnehmenden per „Speeddating-Verfahren“ austauschen. Beim Aushandeln der Engagement-Vereinbarung haben die Beteiligten freie Hand, lediglich eine Regel gilt: Geld ist tabu.

Bezahlt wird stattdessen mit einer der vier „Tauschwährungen“ . „Makler“ stehen unterstützend zur Verfügung, um geeignete Gesprächspartner zueinander zu führen oder aussichtsreiche Vereinbarungen anzubahnen. Ein „Notar“ besiegelt die Vereinbarung schriftlich.

Course of the event

On September 18, 2019, around 80 people from politics, business and the community from the Rheinisch Bergisch district took part in the first “Marketplace of Good Business”.

Within the one-hour “speed-dating”, a total of 35 engagement agreements worth around 56,000 euros were concluded between 17 non-profit organizations and 14 companies.

The most fruitful cooperations will be awarded with a special prize by the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Foundation.

On Monday, twelve companies and 15 non-profit organizations gathered in the “golden hall” of Haus Altenberg. Their common goal: to do “good business” – without any money. During the one-hour negotiation phase, the topic of money was strictly taboo.

The “Good Business” campaign, originally launched by the Bertelsmann Foundation, is an initiative that brings companies and charitable organizations together on so-called “marketplaces” to promote cooperation. Instead of money, commitment flows here in the form of contributions in kind, know-how, manpower and working hours. This is called “networking”.

Michael Becker, Deputy District Administrator, was there for the second time and emphasized: “Networks are particularly important these days. For exchange and mutual support.”

A major supporter of the event, which is organized by Tanja Siebert and Christian Gollmer, is the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Foundation from Rösrath, whose purpose is to promote civic engagement.  Rembold shared from his own experience how valuable a good network can be: “Tanja Siebert has been an active member of our board for some time now”.

This is often worth more than money.

The foundation has awarded a prize in recognition of particularly successful collaborations. The “flotte Kiste” association, supported by Katrin Füchsel from Rigana, the Overath reading promotion organization, accompanied by Maja Supe-Dienes from Dienes Werke, and the “Café Leichtsinn” with her partner Maria Wolff from the “phantasiali” tailoring shop were each awarded 200 euros. They signed the mutual support agreement last year.

Two small and very specific examples from this year’s marketplace: The Christian Association of Young People (CVJM) was looking for space to dry tents. “It’s hard to do that in the garden, there’s not much space and we need dry weather. it would be much easier in a hall,” Sophie and Philipp reported. In return, they offered staff support for an event. Or “Die Kette” e.V., which offers training on mental illness and is looking for better networking opportunities and old electrical appliances.

During the one-hour phase, which took place in the style of speed dating, there was a lot of hustle and bustle. Management consultant Christian Gollmer had suggested beforehand: “Please don’t block your conversation partner for too long, others may also want to talk to them.” Finally, the agreements were recorded in writing. This contains the exact project dates and times, the number of employees involved, the estimated working hours and the expenditure for value and material resources.

At the bottom is the signature, as in a legally valid contract. The “notary” checks the agreements and signs them. It is important that everyone agrees that the provision of a service is not dependent on the provision of a service in return.

]]> Since 2013, the Taproot Foundation and the BMW Foundation have gathered leaders in the pro bono movement to share challenges and best practices with their peers.  The format and location of the Summit changes each year to meet the diverse needs of participants.

After the successfull summit in Japan in 2023, the Global Pro Bono Summit 2025 will take place in Paris, France from November 24 to November 26, 2025. The Summit attracts CSR and HR leaders, foundations, government officials and pro bono movement leaders from over 30 countries. The Summit challenges pro bono movement leaders to find ways to increase their impact and hold each other accountable for doing and promoting pro bono work that drives social change. This year, the summit is hosted by Probono Lab.

Participants include members of the Global Pro Bono Network who are pro bono providers (“intermediaries”) and belong to the Global Pro Bono Network, as well as leading corporations, foundations, and governments that offer pro bono programs. Participants seek to collaborate with peers and partners, share their knowledge of pro bono and their sector to develop strategies that deliver high-quality, high-impact pro bono services to address larger global challenges. Ideas and themes that emerge over the course of these three days will be turned into actionable commitments for the coming year.

The third “Good Business Marketplace” in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district built on the success of the first two speed dating events for companies and volunteers: around 50 participants, including 17 non-profit organizations and 14 companies from the Rheinisch-Bergisch district, got to know each other on 28 May at the Kulturbahnhof in Overath and signed a total of 18 engagement agreements with a total engagement value of around 14,000 euros. The format, which has already been successfully practised in many cities, including Cologne and Bonn, brings companies and non-profit organizations together and initiates cooperation on an equal footing. The special thing about it: no money is involved, the partners support each other with four exchange currencies: Know-how (pro bono), manpower and time, networks and contacts as well as work and material resources.

Impressions of the marketplace 2024

The third marketplace was also supported by the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Stiftung zur Förderung des bürgerschaftlichen Engagements as the main sponsor and the Kreissparkasse Köln with active (wo)man power.

Before Dr. Rembold opened the negotiating floor with a gong, he presented awards to the two best cooperations of the second “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte Rhein-Berg” in Odenthal. “The project is a prime example of civic engagement,” said the Rösrath founder, explaining the reasons for sponsoring and awarding the prizes. “It builds an important bridge between companies and civil society.”

The award winners

The prize of 200 euros each was awarded to the Elterninitiative herzkranker Kinder Köln e.V. and the Stiftung Gute Hand. Both projects were supported by the entrepreneur Maria-Theresia Wolff from Phantasiali Stoffe. Dr. Rembold thanked the entrepreneur for her role model function and announced that the most fruitful and sustainable cooperations of the third marketplace would be awarded again in the following year.

Ms. Maria-Theresia Wolff from phantasiali stoffe and Ms. Claudia Eggers, Elterninitiative Herzkranke Kinder Köln Ev, sewed until the needle bent. They sewed hats, scarves and reading bones, which will be sold at the Christmas market on Monday, December 18, 2023. The proceeds went to children with heart disease. read more

After the bell rang, non-profit organizations and companies exchanged ideas intensively, collected exciting new ideas and not only concluded written cooperation agreements, but also made new contacts with each other over a delicious buffet.

Among the participating non-profit organizations were Die Platte e.V., Flotte Kisten Overath e.V., kreativBox & friends e.V., Mentor – Die Leselernhelfer Overath e.V., OVplus Stadtmarketing Overath e.V., RockId one, Stiftung Die Gute Hand, TV Forsbach 1914 e.V., FAIReinskultur. Companies represented included DIENES Werke für Maschinenteile, Feelgood Trainer, Ringana, SBDW – Senioren Beraten Die Wirtschaft, Schneiderei phantasiali stoffe, Vitamin Text, the IT company Vidinli Software, Help in Deal, etc.

Ms. Sylvia Asmussen, Specialist Office for Civic Engagement and Volunteering, also gained first-hand impressions. She is also thinking about implementing the “Good Business Marketplace” in the Oberberg region.

All engagement agreements made during the “Marketplace” were recorded in writing on the evening of the event. Their implementation will be monitored by the organizer team. The best collaborations will be awarded prizes at the next marketplace, which is expected to take place in early summer 2025.

The marketplace brings together non-profit organizations and companies from the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and will take place on 28 May 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Kulturbahnhof in Overath under the patronage of our District Administrator, Mr. Stephan Santelmann.

Special incentive: Our main sponsor, the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Foundation, will award a prize for the most successful cooperation among all participants of the marketplace.

Course of the event

The “Good Business Marketplace” brings together companies and non-profit organizations from the Rheinisch-Bergisch district and enables the initiation of cooperation at eye level. In a “speed dating” session, the partners spend an hour exchanging ideas and considering a possible partnership. Payment is not made in cash, but in four possible exchange currencies: Know-how, manpower and time, networks and material and work equipment. Participation is free of charge for all participants. Am Veranstaltungstag treffen die teilnehmenden Unternehmen und Gemeinnützigen erstmals aufeinander. Ein Gongschlag signalisiert den Beginn der einstündigen Verhandlungsphase, während der sich die Teilnehmenden per „Speeddating-Verfahren“ austauschen. Beim Aushandeln der Engagement-Vereinbarung haben die Beteiligten freie Hand, lediglich eine Regel gilt: Geld ist tabu.

Bezahlt wird stattdessen mit einer der vier „Tauschwährungen“ . „Makler“ stehen unterstützend zur Verfügung, um geeignete Gesprächspartner zueinander zu führen oder aussichtsreiche Vereinbarungen anzubahnen. Ein „Notar“ besiegelt die Vereinbarung schriftlich.

Impressions of the “Marketplace” 2023

On May 15, 2023, around 60 people from politics, business and the community from the Rheinisch Bergisch district took part in the first “Marketplace of Good Business”.

During the one-hour “speed dating” session, 14 non-profit organizations and 10 companies from the northern Rheinisch-Bergisch district signed a total of 13 engagement agreements with a total engagement value of around 15,000 euros.

Following its premiere in 2019, the second “Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte” (Good Business Marketplace) in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district was able to build on the success of the first speed dating of companies and volunteers after a break due to Corona: 24 participants, including 14 nonprofit organizations and 10 companies from the Rheinisch-Bergisch district, got to know each other on May 15 at Haus Altenberg in Odenthal and concluded a total of 13 engagement agreements with a total engagement value of around 15,000 euros. The format, which has already been successfully practiced in many cities, including Cologne and Bonn, brings companies and nonprofit organizations together and initiates cooperation at eye level. What’s special about it is that no money is involved; the partners support each other with four exchange currencies: Know-how (pro bono), manpower and time, networks and contacts, and labor and material resources.

Impressions of the market place 2023

The second Rhine-Berg Marketplace was also supported by the Dr. Jürgen Rembold Foundation for the Promotion of Civic Involvement as the main sponsor, as well as the Kreissparkasse Köln with active (wo)man-power.

“I am completely convinced by the concept,” emphasized Stephan Santelmann, District Administrator of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and patron of the event, in his welcoming speech. He thanked the team of organizers Tanja Siebert from Amaidi and Christian Gollmer from the Forum for Sustainability for the Bergisch for their perseverance, the sponsors for making the event possible, and the tirelessly committed volunteers for their unwavering dedication even in difficult times.

Before the negotiating floor was opened with a gong strike by Santelmann, Dr. Jürgen Rembold awarded prizes to the three best cooperations of the first Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte Rhein-Berg in Rösrath. “The project is a prime example of civic engagement,” said the Rösrath benefactor, explaining the sponsorship and awarding of the prizes. “An important bridge is being built here between businesses and civil society.”

The award winners

The DRK Rösrath, Hits fürs Hospiz and Stiftung Gute Hand were each awarded 200 euros. Two of the engagement agreements were realized with Ms. Radermacher from Feelgood Trainer, and one project with social media manager Sonja Theile-Ochel, Rheinda communications agency. Rembold thanked the female entrepreneurs for their exemplary function and announced that the most fruitful and sustainable cooperations of the second marketplace will be awarded again.

A new website for the Bergisches Wünsche-Mobil

Award winner Hits fürs Hospiz e.V. association, represented today by Mr. Andreas Stammler, board member at Hits fürs Hospiz e.V.

The association Hits fürs Hospiz e.V. asked the organizers of Marktplatz Gute Geschäfte for advice: For technical reasons, the website of the Bergisches Wünsche-Mobil was threatened with closure at the end of the year. What to do? It was obvious that the request could not wait until the next “Marktplatz”. We decided to put it to the test. After all, it is also exciting for us as the organizing team to see how effective our network already is. What then happened exceeded our wildest expectations. It took less than two hours before social media manager Sonja Theile-Ochel from Rheinda – Kommunikationsagentur agreed to take over the revision of the page.

Award winner: Stiftung Gute Hand, represented by Ms. Alexandra Reinhardt, Head of Public Relations and Fundraising.

In January and February 2020, the entrepreneur Ms. Anja Radermacher (Feelgood trainer – more ease in everyday life) was a guest in the intensive pedagogical residential group house 2 and the therapeutic intensive group house 1. Using the food pyramid, she worked out very clearly with the children and pedagogical staff which nutritional components are important for our health and well-being. Mrs. Radermacher was positively surprised by the knowledge of our children, which led to a lively discussion. After a short theory session, the children moved on to the practical part – wraps and various fruit skewers with cottage cheese were made and later eaten with relish.

Prize winner: German Red Cross, Rösrath chapter, represented by Ms. Ingeborg Schmidt, 1st Chairwoman of the Rösrath chapter of the German Red Cross.

In February 2020, the entrepreneur Ms. Anja Radermacher (Feelgood trainer – more ease in everyday life) redeemed the next deal from the Marketplace of Good Business. An exciting evening at the DRK in Rösrath. She spent a good hour and a half talking to the volunteers about nutrition. At the end there were wraps with lots of fresh ingredients as a tasting. There were lively conversations and also controversial discussions. Very grateful here: DRK Rösrath.

After the gong sounded, non-profit organizations and companies exchanged ideas intensively, gathered exciting new ideas and, in the end, not only made written cooperation agreements, but also established new contacts with each other over a delicious buffet. The abundant leftover food was donated by the organizers to the representatives of the Platte Association who were present and used it to surprise the needy and homeless people they care for.

Among the participating non-profits were the Förderverein Stadtbücherei Leichlingen, Fix-it-Climate, Herzkranke Kinder Köln, the Ernährungsrat Bergisches Land, Landschaft und Geschichte, Helfende Pfoten Verein für Assistenzhunde und ihre Menschen, Platte e.V., Stiftung Gute Hand, Hits fürs Hospiz, Theas Theater and FAIReinskultur. On the corporate side, the IT company Vidinli Software, the Rhineland Foundation for Education, Help in Deal and Phantasiali Stoffe were among the companies represented.

First-hand impressions were also gained by the Lupe Volunteer Center from Leverkusen, which is considering implementing a Good Business Marketplace for its region as well.

All the commitment agreements made during the “Marketplace” were recorded in writing on the evening of the event. Their implementation will be monitored by the organizer team. The best collaborations will be awarded prizes at the next marketplace, which is expected to take place in early summer 2024.
