Our project partner is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 in Kenya with the aim to give shelter to children whoses parent died from HIV/Aids. Orphans suffer stigma, stress and trauma in addition to the loss of parental love, care and protection and more often they are disinherited. In this supportive environment for children and families affected by HIV/AIDS. The NGO focus their attention to ensure access to essential services including but not limited to education, health care, birth registration, psychosocial support and legal protection. For the minimum time of 8 weeks, we are looking for Volunteers for School & Children project in Kenya.
Give computer classes to at least 50 local youth
Feeding the children
Awareness within the local community
Provide academic development of the children through teaching and coaching
Develop youth empowerment programs.
Experience: There is no special experience in the fields of Education, Curriculum & Teaching, Inclusion required.
Knowledge Areas: Community and Social Services; Education, Curriculum & Teaching
Minimum Language Skills: English A1 – Beginners
Desired Age Group: any age
PBC required: Yes, the volunteer must have a clean police background check ( PBC)
Other: The volunteer should have no reservations with HIV infected people and be able to communicate in English. S/he should be open minded and flexible and willing to adapt to local living conditions and also able to respect local customs. Be a team player, innovative and ready to share ideas.

or how this project makes a difference:
Long Term aim (desired impact): Have a youth career development center by 2018 and have clear structures at our children projects.
Short Term aim (desired output for the individual volunteer coming):
– Children in the project have access to quality education and general living conditions improved
– Structures at the centre fully renovated to provide a conducive environment to child development
– 50 local youths have computer skills and knowledge
Accommodation on arrival: Volunteers are accommodated in a host family in Nairobi on arrival and during the preparation days before the placement to the project is done
Project is closed: During holidays volunteers are engaged in our other projects across the country which allows them to explore the diversity of the country. Volunteer will also have time to take safaris to destinations across the country.
Social activities (organised by partner): Cultural events, market days, hiking
Language lessons: Volunteers interested in taking languages (Swahili) classes are advised to register for a 10 days lesson at a cost of Euro 250
Guidance: At the organization level we have the volunteer coordinator and volunteer mentor who assist all our volunteers during their stay in the projects. All projects have someone to guide the volunteer in their daily activities.
When going out the volunteer for weekends and free time activities the volunteer may be accompanied by a local from the project
Internet: Projects at times have internet that is slow, while at the office you will be able to access to internet. Volunteers with smart phones can be able to acquire a local SIM card and have access to internet on their phones which is much affordable.
Other relevant information: We would appreciate a minimum commitment of 2 months to enhance sustainability of service delivery
Volunteers interested in joining our education tour experiences can also register with us. The volunteer assignment if open through out the year and you are encouraged to join at any given time of the year. All genders are accepted to join in the project
After an extensive consultation and presentation of the first suitable projects, we will conclude a written agreement. In order to have planning security for all stakeholders.
Presentation of Volunteer Profile to Project Partner
If the project partner decides for you, he documents this on the so-called Confirmation of Assignment (COA).
This is an indication for us that the pure mediation process is completed here and we can start with the preparation.
You will be prepared individually according to your previous knowledge.
At regular intervals, we as well as the project partners expect a short documentation of your project results and progress.
At the end of the project a feedback round takes place and the project work will be evaluated together with all participants.
